As I am writing this, breaking news has reported another mass shooting that wounded, some critically, six teenagers and young adults at a gathering of teens in downtown Chattanooga,Tennessee, only four days after nineteen 4th graders and two teachers were murdered in a mass shooting in their classrooms in Uvalde, Texas, which was only ten days after ten people were murdered shopping for groceries in a grocery store in Buffalo, New York.
In just the span of two weeks in America there have been three mass shootings, that’s thirty-seven dead or wounded American citizens, and the killers in the first two shootings were teenagers who legally bought and carried military-grade weapons of war in and around civilian populations with the sole purpose of killing people. The only reason I don’t include the third shooter is because we don’t as of yet have confirmation on the age or weapon(s) used.
But here is what I do know, mass shootings are so common in America that schoolchildren across the country are forced to be traumatized over and over again by training in active shooter drills at school to prepare for the eventuality.
Another thing I know is the Republican Party can stop these shootings in their tracks, stop the daily murder of American citizens as they try to live their daily lives, stop fetishizing weapons of war, and stop ruining the lives of American families all in the name of NRA blood money. And make no mistake, the Republican Party holds Americans’ lives hostage for guns because the profitable gun lobby pays them to do it.
And we are not distracting by scapegoating mental health.
And we are not distracting by scapegoating teachers and educators.
And we are not distracting by scapegoating law enforcement making split decisions in dangerous, life-threatening crisis situations.
And we are not distracting by scapegoating the 2nd Amendment of the United States Constitution.
And we are not distracting by scapegoating fucking doors.
It’s the guns. It has always been the guns. It will always be the guns and the Republican Party financially beholden to the gun lobby, who refuse to regulate them.
Speaking of regulating guns, here is U.S. Marines veteran, @usmcangryveteran (TicToc handle) tweeted by @LifeIndiscreet to tell us exactly the regulations Marines have to go through to own and handle the weapons of war they are issued:
Here is the exact wording of the 2nd Amendment of which Republicans distort and exploit to obscene levels:
“A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.“
As @usmcangryveteran said, Americans are allowed to keep and bear arms for their imagined someday militia, but they damn well better be regulated!
Well-regulated. Yet Republicans refuse to impose something as basic and normal as a license or permit, with training and testing requirements? A three-day wait period? An age limit that doesn’t include teenagers? A gun registry? Liability insurance? Background checks? A limit on bullets? A limit on how many guns one can own or the types of guns, paraphernalia and other weapons of war this militia-of-citizenry is allowed?
Americans are regulated more trying to get a driver’s license and drive a car than they are when purchasing and using a gun.
Do Republicans really believe the words in the 2nd Amendment above means an unlimited, unfettered, unchecked stockpiling bonanza of guns for everyday citizens, Wild West style? No, they do not. The only thing Republicans believe in is the money all those gun sales rake in, to the tune of millions.
All the Republican Party has to do to stop this madness is dump the NRA and work with the Democrats in Congress to regulate the guns. It really is that simple. We know regulation works, because it worked when President Clinton and Congress banned assault weapons the first time, before the ban expired and Republicans refused to renew it. Gun regulations work in every civilized country in the world, but Republicans won’t do it.
And factoring in their culpability in the January 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol and attempted coup, the Republican Party is officially, by every definition, an American domestic terrorist organization who provokes and incites racial, political and economic divides among its citizens, and then sits back and does nothing to prevent the moment when the unhinged respond to their rhetoric by murdering Americans with the easily available guns Republicans put on the streets.
I’ve had enough.
The March For Our Lives organization, founded by survivors of the Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida mass shooting, has organized a nationwide march on Saturday, June 11, 2022.
BREAD COUNT:
For his unwavering support of “hardening schoolhouses” into one-door prisons as the only solution Republicans are offering to solve America’s gun epidemic, instead of regulating guns, military-grade semi-automatic weapons and gun paraphernalia, I give Senator Ted Cruz one slice of bread out of ten.

Dear Senator Cruz,
